If you didn’t know, the Base of Baserange stands for Basic Aesthetic for Sustainable Easywear, and sure enough, The Franco-Danish label adheres to the concise philosophy encapsulated by this acronym. In stark opposition to the slapdash appeals to sustainability now spreading throughout the fashion world, Baserange’s foundational commitment to sustainability and ethical production processes profoundly affects the design of their garments, thereby forming a uniquely holistic approach.
On the production side, the label maintains close relationships with all of the small, family-run factories across Europe and Turkey that produce their items. All of Baserange’s cotton and leather products are produced in a number of small towns surrounding the city of Porto, Portugal; woven pieces are made in Odemis, a town near Izmir in Western Turkey; and some pieces from their range of 100% organic cotton knitwear are made in France.
Crafted from soft organic cotton in Porto, Portugal, the Baserange Omato Longsleeve casts a sleek and elegant silhouette, refined further by delicate, exposed seam detailing. Crafted from soft and stretchy cotton-elastane blend ribbed fabric, the exposed seam details run down the arms, across the shoulder seams, and trace the outlines of the side panels, lending the delicate, lightweight piece a sense of structure and purpose. Here in the grey melange colourway, the Omato Longsleeve also features a boat neckline, and overclocking at the hem and cuffs.
Made in Porto, Portugal from 91% organic cotton, 9% elastane.
