Since moving the label to Japan, Tokyo-based Boys Co Ltd have reinvigorated Danton, inflecting inherited 20th-century French workwear with contemporary Japanese style cues. Many of the label’s most recent collections riff on the label’s workwear pedigree, playfully engaging notions of work and leisure.
This season, the label expand on their range of canvas and nylon accessories with more durable bags that expanding the purview of workwear with innovative materials and features. Elsewhere, as usual, Danton’s workwear heritage is on full display with updated takes on overalls, collarless jackets and work pants among dresses and easy pants that integrate workwear details into everyday staples.
With their most recent bucket hat design, the Bucket Hat JD7282, Danton look beyond the military context that introduced the bucket hat to the masses. Instead, they locate the shape’s workwear origins as functional wet-weather headwear for farmers and fishermen, popular in the rural expanses of Southern France and the many towns and villages that line the country’s Atlantic coast.
Cut from crisp nylon taffeta, this classic bucket hat finds beauty in simplicity, confident of the history carried by the appliquéd embroidered Danton diamond logo. Here in the black colourway, this hat also features ventilation eyelets on either side.
