Since moving the label to Japan, Tokyo-based Boys Co Ltd have reinvigorated Danton, inflecting inherited 20th-century French workwear with contemporary Japanese style cues. Many of the label’s most recent collections riff on the label’s workwear pedigree, playfully engaging notions of work and leisure.
This season, the label expand on their range of canvas and nylon accessories with more durable bags that expanding the purview of workwear with innovative materials and features. Elsewhere, as usual, Danton’s workwear heritage is on full display with updated takes on overalls, collarless jackets and work pants among dresses and easy pants that integrate workwear details into everyday staples.
Finding creative space between sartorial manifestations of work and leisure has been Danton’s project from the get-go. While the Danton Easy Pants JD-2540 may be more play than work—particularly given their cotton-linen twill construction—they retain subtle workwear elements: the loose but tapered leg; visible pocket stitching; and overall understated, utility-focused design. Everything here serves a purpose. Here in the black colourway, these pants also feature an elasticated waistband with adjustable drawstring, side seam pockets with stitching detail, back patch pocket with embroidered appliqué Danton label, and a slightly cropped leg.
