Since moving the label to Japan, Tokyo-based Boys Co Ltd have reinvigorated Danton, inflecting inherited 20th-century French workwear with contemporary Japanese style cues. Many of the label’s most recent collections riff on the label’s workwear pedigree, playfully engaging notions of work and leisure. This season, the label expand on their range of accessories with innovative new additions to their range of bags and caps. Elsewhere, as usual, Danton’s workwear heritage is on full display with updated takes on work pants, shirting, and easy pants that integrate workwear details into everyday staples.
Finding creative space between sartorial manifestations of work and leisure has been Danton’s project from the get-go. While the Danton W’ Easy Pants E0003 may be more play than work, they retain subtle workwear elements: the wide but tapered leg; hardwearing cotton twill construction; and overall understated, utility-focused design. Everything here serves a purpose.
