Since moving the label to Japan, Tokyo-based Boys Co Ltd have reinvigorated Danton, inflecting inherited 20th-century French workwear with contemporary Japanese style cues. Many of the label’s most recent collections riff on the label’s workwear pedigree, playfully engaging notions of work and leisure.
This season, the label expand on their range of canvas and nylon accessories with more durable bags that expanding the purview of workwear with innovative materials and features. Elsewhere, as usual, Danton’s workwear heritage is on full display with updated takes on overalls, collarless jackets and work pants among dresses and easy pants that integrate workwear details into everyday staples.
When it comes to reinventing the classic work pant, Danton’s approach relies on subtle gestures towards shape and taper. The Danton Work Balloon Pants (JD-2654) employ this guiding aesthetic, finding space between the classic work chino and an unlikely bedfellow: the balloon pant.
Cut from high-quality Japanese Katsuragi denim, this pant features slightly bulging side lines combined with workwear details such as a back cinch and side patch pocket. Here in the Ecru colourway, these mid-rise denim pants also feature a zip fly with top button closure; side slant pockets; and a single back patch pocket adorned with a tonal woven Danton label.
