Entitled ‘Source Material’ Franchise’s SS21 collection acknowledges the breadth of basketball and related ephemera that the label’s designers look to for inspiration. This range of apparel filters nostalgia for golden eras of the game and legendary players through a contemporary design lens. The results appeal far beyond the world of basketball—in fact, in a way they deny the possibility of delineating basketball culture from all the other subcultures and contexts with which it inevitably comes into contact.
In basketball, home-court advantage is never to be underestimated. With ‘House’ embroidered on the front left panel, the Franchise Home Court Advantage Hat plays on the fact that the word ‘house’ is often used to refer to a team’s home-court, linking this usage to the house music genre—a link that becomes obvious when we see the words “acid tracks” embroidered across the back. Constructed from a sturdy black corduroy fabric, this six-panel cap also features ventilation eyelets and an adjustable back strap with metal clasp.
Made in the USA from 100% cotton.
