In recent years, the Rebuild by Needles collection has gained the label significant attention. Implementing a variety of (de)construction methods, each style in the collection uses the process of recycling to play with notions of addition, replacement, necessity, and modification.
The 7 Cuts Wide Shirt Tie Dye takes the staple piece of the collection—a flannel shirt (re)built from 7 cross-section pieces of vintage flannel shirts with different checked patterns—and adds a psychedelic twist, with an all-over, garment-dyed, tie-dye pattern. Though employing a familiar deconstructive gesture, the Rebuild by Needles Flannel 7 Cuts Wide Shirt Tie Dye explodes the myth that deconstruction is synonymous with minimalism, with different checked patterns clashing in a flurry of maximalist joy.
As well as its unique ‘7 cuts’ construction and striking tie-dye pattern, this extra-wide shirt features an uneven shirt hem, pointed collar, three pen-sized pockets across the chest, horizontal back yoke, and front button closure.
