Since moving back to Naarm/Melbourne from Paris amidst the pandemic, Perks and Mini founders Misha Hollenbach and Shauna Toohey have been busy creating projects adapted to the world in 2021. With the Positive Messages platform, launched earlier this year, the P.A.M. team sought to offer glimmers of alternative futures in a time when it feels like the world—and opportunities for change—are more closed off than ever before.
Rather than offering hope, the label’s new collection—entitled ‘Good Life’—celebrates what we still have, even if it looks different than before the pandemic. As walks have become one of the very few activities afforded to people in lockdowns, it’s little surprise that references to the natural world abound in this collection. But P.A.M. also look to how they themselves impact the environment, with increasingly diverse sustainability practices including organic cotton, recycled synthetic fibres, and up-cycled materials. Perks and Mini are here for a good time and a long time.
Over the years, P.A.M. have expanded the possibilities of the tote bag via experimentation with materials, size, and colour, bringing the simple accessory with them on their ventures into otherworldly visual realms. The Perks and Mini (P.A.M.) Photosynthesis Tote carries on this tradition with a striking ‘Emerald’ colourway and graphics from the ‘Good Life’ collection screen-printed on both sides.
