Luxury sportswear tends not to aspire to performance. In fact, the simultaneous affirmation of a sportswear aesthetic and denial of performance is often how luxury brands have distinguished themselves from the rest of the field. This is what makes Stone Island such a welcome outlier. The Italian label has gained a reputation not just for employing performance, but for redefining it, with experimental research fabrics intended to enhance pieces in function and aesthetic. In their latest collection, the luxury sportswear experimentalists explore the unique textures of new and classic materials developed in-house, drawing from each a unique tonal range through a combination of their trademark dyeing processes.
Season after season, Stone Island reliably use their innovative textile research and design approaches to reinvent military-inspired classics. The Garment Dyed Cargo Pants, here in the seasonal ‘moss’ colourway, fits proudly into that history. This reworking of the classic cargo pant is crafted from a slightly stretchy cotton gabardine, lending the pants unmatched comfort and durability. This fabric has been dyed using Stone Island’s trademark garment dyeing techniques, lending them a slightly worn appearance.
This regular tapered-fit pant also features welt pockets at the sides with hidden zip closures; one diagonal back slit pocket with hidden snap fastening; patch bellows pockets on the legs with flap and velcro fastenings; elasticated waist with adjustable inner drawstring; zip fly; and adjustable drawstrings at leg openings. The piece is finished with the iconic Stone Island ‘Compass Rose’ patch attached to the left cargo pocket.
