Every season, Italian label Stone Island endeavour not just to employ performance, but to redefine it. In pursuit of such ambitious aims, the label—whose research & development department has become legendary—utilize in-house research fabrics that enhance their garments across axes of function and aesthetic. In their latest collection, the luxury sportswear experimentalists explore the unique textures of new and classic materials developed in-house, drawing from each a unique tonal range through a combination of their trademark dyeing processes.
A seasonal highlight from the Italian innovators, the Stone Island Membrana Jacket shows off one of the label’s newest research materials: Membrana 3L. Lightweight, breathable, water-resistant: this three-layer performance fabric is constructed from an opaque nylon outer layer fixed to a breathable, imperceptible water-resistant membrane of polyester. Treated with Stone Island’s trademark garment-dye process, lending this jacket that slightly-worn finish while preserving the performance features of the inner membrane. The final touch is added by way of Stone Island’s special anti-drop formula.
This stand-out jacket features a standing collar; an elasticised band around the neckline; raglan sleeves; one standing pocket; front two-way zip closure with nylon tape detail running alongside the zip; welt hand pockets on the front with hidden zip closure; and snap-fastened adjustable elasticised bands at the cuffs. This piece is finished with a Stone Island Compass patch affixed to the left arm.
