Every season, Italian label Stone Island endeavour not just to employ performance, but to redefine it. In pursuit of such ambitious aims, the label—whose research & development department has become legendary—utilize in-house research fabrics that enhance their garments across axes of function and aesthetic. In their latest collection, the luxury sportswear experimentalists explore the unique textures of new and classic materials developed in-house, drawing from each a unique tonal range through a combination of their trademark dyeing processes.
One of the defining design principles of Italian label Stone Island’s approach is that a quest for innovation in simplicity must accompany their fabric research and development. It is the very high-performing materials for which they are known that allow them to distil pieces down to previously unseen foundational elements. By doing so, they unearth a kind of elegant simplicity.
The Stone Island Overshirt (7415117WN) is a perfect example of this approach in practice. This piece is constructed from Stone Island’s brushed cotton canvas: a textured, sturdy, and hardwearing fabric. This piece has been treated with the label’s trademark ‘Old’ effect, a garment dye process that results in pieces with a slightly worn and textured appearance.
Here in the label’s beloved rose quartz colourway, this piece features a single bellows pocket on the chest with a boxy flap and three-snap closure. Other features include elasticated cuffs with snap fastening, regular collar, and front two-way zip fastening. The piece is finished with the iconic Stone Island ‘Compass Rose’ patch attached to the left shoulder.
Made in Tunisia from 100% cotton.
