For more than 25 years Undercover, led by founder and head designer Jun Takahashi, has occupied a peculiar position on the fashion landscape. The Tokyo label is founded on the playful mocking of both high fashion and streetwear’s norms, an approach encapsulated in their “We make noise not clothes” motto.
Each and every season, Jun Takahashi’s collections are keenly awaited for their high-concept foundations, theatrical runway shows, and high-profile pop-culture collaborations. This latest collection, entitled ‘Fallen Man’ interprets Akira Kurosawa’s 1957 adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth set in feudal Japan, Throne of Blood. This collection, for all of its conceptual intricacies and avant-garde touches, reportedly only took Takahashi 2 weeks to design.
The Undercover Fallen Man Reversible Bomber Jacket in black is dedicated to Takahashi’s interpretation of this cinematic classic. On one side, this fully-reversible jacket features the words ‘Fallen Man’ in stylised print on the back accompanied by a seasonal graphic depicting ‘the fall.’ The striking orange reverse side features the classic Undercover Jun Takahashi branding across the back alongside a seasonal print: ‘Wir machen Larm, keine Klamotten,’ the label’s motto in German. The latter is also printed on the chest of the reverse side. Other features include two slant pockets, with zip closure on one side and snap fastening on the reverse; zip pocket on the left arm of one side; and ribbed cuffs, bottom hem & neckline.
