Frequent collaborators with Australian artists, Verner collections are highly conceptual, often poking and prodding at perceived notions of Australianness via a nuanced interplay between surface appearance and structural design. Like flocks of Melburnians fleeing their homes after isolation for to amass on nature strips across the city, entitled “Exterior Motives” this new Verner collection (Holiday 20/21) is replete with vivid patterns, high-contrast photographic prints, and hand-drawn imagery alluding to a yearning for spiritual truths.
Alongside photographic collage prints and the marquee “Stripe Lining” pattern, this holiday collection from Verner features a number of pieces that experiment with structure and space. Three “cutout” pieces use negative space to bring into question conventional silhouettes.
The Verner Cutout Tee is a regular-fit tee cut from soft cotton jersey with a standard silhouette interrupted by two circle cutouts: a small one on the chest and a large one at the back. Here in the black colourway, this short sleeve t-shirt also features an elasticated waist with adjustable drawstring.
