The last instalment of the 2020 2nd Collection from WTAPS sees the Japanese streetwear pioneers wrap up this turbulent year with a selection of accessories and classic apparel pieces. With their trademark blend of military, collegiate, sports, and workwear influences firmly in view, WTAPS posit a utilitarianism which we could all use more of right now.
If there is a headwear shape that defines streetwear after the Millenium, it is the five-panel cap. While their predecessors were worn in the early 20th century by courier boys, the five-panel as we know it began to take shape in the 90s when it was adopted by various subcultural groups. The rest we know all too well.
Upon first seeing the WTAPS T5 Cap, you might be tempted to assume that the shape has military origins. This is a testament to the power and uniqueness of the WTAPS aesthetic.
A WTAPS classic reworked in this season’s versatile cotton-nylon blend “Nyco Satin” fabric, the T5 Cap in Black features the woven WTAPS label on the front, ventilation holes on the side panels, and adjustable leather strap at the back with metallic hardware and engraved WTAPS branding.
Made in Japan from 50% cotton, 50% nylon.
